Kathleen Owen and friends have been busy working on the Eatonville Post Office flower bed. It had gotten completely overgrown and the club — under Owen leadership — decided to take it on.

The transformation over the last couple days has been amazing! A watering system was even uncovered, so the bed should remain beautiful all summer.

Spring Tour of VanCor Gardens

Stump at VanCor Garden

Our May meeting was held at the beautiful VanCor Gardens near Orting. Owners Ruben Corpuz and Ruben Corpuz were our gracious hosts and had seating ready for us when we arrived.

Once business was done, we were taken for a tour around their 4-acre private garden which includes a incredible trees and stumps, meandering flower beds are filled with rhododendrons, azaleas, and perennials, a cutting garden, a cactus garden, koi pond, rose garden . . . and more.

There were a few plants for sale and I know myself and others came home with treasures, like an incredible trillium with a large red bloom.

For those that didn’t get to make it, hopefully this pictures will give you a taste of the event.

The Dogwood Garden Club plant sale held May Day at the Eatonville High School was a success.

“Congratulations to all of you who contributed to the plant sale and who WORKED SO HARD!!!!!  We made $402 dollars which is what we usually make when we have a raffle and we didn’t have one this year, so your plants carried the load,” says Mary.
