Successful Dwarf Conifer Sale

Dwarf Confier Sale in Eatonville

Dwarf Confier Sale in Eatonville

Dollars for Scholars asked us to help them sell trees at their Dwarf Conifer Sale on September 15.

The sale was held at the Eatonville Visitors Center and we had hundreds of trees for people to choose from. The trees were all donated by Bob and Dianne Fincham of Coenosium Gardens, internationally known for their tiny trees. People walked away with gems and our respective organizations walked away financially healthier.

Thank you Mary Bewley, Debbie Price, Sharon Aguilar and new member Kathy Mettler, for donating your energy and hours. It was a great event!

Visit to the Old Goat Farm

Sept 13 meeting at Old Goat Farm

Sept 13 meeting at Old Goat Farm

We started off the 2012-2013 year with a trip to the Old Goat Farm. The day was wonderful — in the 70s — and one of the owners, Gary Waller gave a talk on designing with recycled elements in the yard under the apple trees. Since the last year’s windstorm, they created a spectacular “artful” compost fence. It’s 12 feet tall, three feet deep and 60 feet long. I don’t think I’ll be looking at windfall the same again.

We got a private tour of the grounds and a chance to make some purchases at their nursery. We also left each with a sample issue of Pacific Horticulture. Who could ask for more?
