Thank you Sharon for sharing your chicken coop with the Dogwood Garden Club on Sunday, May 27. Mary Bewley, Sharon Aguilar, Diane Mettler and Kathy Mettler (who donated flowers and jumped in) put together approximately 200 bouquets that were placed on soldiers’ graves on Memorial Day.

Thank you to those who donated they flowers too. The bouquets turned out great.

Twenty Terrariums Completed

Terrariums

Terrariums

On April 15, some of the Dogwood Garden Club members got together and created over 20 terrariums as center pieces for the district meeting held May 22nd. From a table full of dirt, glass containers, sedums, rocks and knickknacks, they completed some amazingly creative and beautiful pieces.

Thanks go out to Mary Bewley, Debbie Price, Ceacea Bicknell, Diane Mettler, Sharon Aguilar and Ginny Phillips.

May Meeting – Mount Rainier Lodge

The falls

The falls

We had a wonderful meeting at Kim LaFrance’s Mount Rainier Lodge, in Mineral, Wash.

After the meeting and fabulous lunch (thanks Kim and Rosie), Sharon Aguilar showed the group how to make wreaths from weeds. Anne Hartman said she’ll never look at weeds the same way again.

Kim and her husband have the grounds around the lodge looking spectacular. For those of you who missed the meeting, here is a glimpse.

Kim LaFrance’s yard blew us away at the May 10th meeting.  The inside of her lodge was pretty amazing too.

Take a look.

2012 Community Plant Sale a Success

Dogwood Plant Sale purchases

Dogwood Plant Sale purchases

Our 2012 Community Day plant sale was a hit with Eatonville gardeners. We made nearly $300 — amazing when you figure we sell the plants for about $1.00 a piece.

We almost sold out too. My understanding is that Mary Bewley came home with just a small flat of plants.

Thanks everyone for your hard work!

Now it’s time to go out finish planting everything I bought.
